Biography

German swimmer Sebastian Wiese was a specialist in the middle- and long-distance freestyle events. He finished sixth and tenth respectively at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics. At the 1993 European Championships, he won the 1,500 metres freestyle silver medal, and won the bronze in 1991. In 1999, he added another silver with the German long-distance team.

Nationally, Wiese won the 1992 title over 400 metres and in 1997 the 5 kilometres open water swimming title. Later, he participated in several triathlon events.
