Biography

Daniela Beneck was an Italian swimmer who wore the colours of Società Sportiva Lazio. She was the daughter of the sports official Bruno Beneck and she and her sister Anna were top Roman swimmers in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1965 Daniela broke the European record in the 200 m freestyle with 2:18.0. She was very competitive in freestyle, at distances from 100 to 400, and won 11 national titles. Beneck reached the 4x100 freestyle finals at both Roma and Tokyo. She married hurdler Roberto Frinolli, a big rival of her brother-in-law Salvatore Morale. For several years Beneck held executive positions with the Italian Swimming Federation.
