Biography

Brita Hazelius was a Swedish breaststroke swimmer who began swimming for IFK Falun in 1925. In 1926 Hazelius broke the world record time in the 200 metres breaststroke by 25 seconds. In the same year she also set a world record in the 400 metres breaststroke. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics Hazelius finished in sixth place in the 200 metres breaststroke. After the Olympics Hazelius worked as a swimming teacher and physical therapist in Stockholm and Rio de Janeiro. In Falun Municipality a street is named after her.
