Biography

Manuella Kalili represented the Los Angeles AC when not competing in his native Hawaii. Along with his brother Maiola Kalili, he got his start swimming in Honolulu harbor where they would dive for coins. In addition to a silver medal in the Olympic relay Kalili placed fourth in the 100m free. His only AAU championship came in 1931 when he won the outdoor 100m freestyle. He retired from competition in 1933 and later appeared in some movies as a South Sea native and Navy messmen in war films.
