Lester Smith swam the 400 freestyle at the 1924 Paris Olympics, but did not get past the semi-final. He represented the Olympic Club of San Francisco. During World War II Smith served in the US Army with the 335th Infantry Regiment. In civilian life he was the owner of a concrete plant.
