Biography

Volleyball player Larisa Bergen represented ADK Alma-Ata, Dynamo Moskva, and the Soviet national team. For Dynamo Moskva Bergen was part of their team that won four USSR Championships (1972–73, 1975, 1977) and four European Cups (1972, 1974–75, 1977). Playing for the Soviet Union, she was a two-time European Champion (1971, 1975), and won the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup in 1973.

Bergen was part of the Soviet Union’s team at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. The team went undefeated during the tournament until they lost 3–0 to Japan in the final, therefore winning the silver medal. After her retirement as a player Bergen later became a coach.
