Biography

Marcello Del Duca was an Italian water polo player who took the silver medal at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. During his career Del Duca played with Civitavecchia, who finished runner-up in the 1975 Italian Top League and third in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1977. He also played with SS Mameli Voltri, Ortigia Siracusa, Cagliari and finally, Brescia.

With the Italian national team, in addition to the Olympic medal, Del Duca achieved silver at the 1970 Torino Summer Universiade, a bronze at 1975 Cali World Championships, a gold at the Mediterranean Games that same year, and a bronze at the 1977 European Championships. After ending his playing days, Del Duca coached Civitavecchia at the youth level (winning several championships), and also the “A” team. He also coached Orizzonte Catania (winning the Italian women’s championship in 1993), and Coser Civitavecchia women.
