Russ Webb made his international début as a swimmer, winning a gold medal in the medley relay and a silver in the 100m breaststroke at the 1967 Pan-American Games. The following year he compete at the Mexico City Olympics as a water polo player and in 1972 he won an Olympic bronze medal. Webb graduated from UCLA in 1968.
