Biography

Welsh international weightlifter Peter Arthur took part un the 1968 and 1972 Olympics, which both doubled as World Championships. Additionally, he appeared at the 1969 Worlds at Warsaw, and the 1969 and 1972 European Championships. His finest moments came at the Commonwealth Games, as he won a bronze medal in the light-heavyweight division in both 1962 at Perth, Australia, and 1970 at Edinburgh. A former British Steel worker, Arthur suffered a stroke in 2012 and was seriously paralysed down the right-hand side of his body, but determination and hours on a treadmill at a local leisure centre saw him massively improve his condition.
