Biography

Mongolian freestyle wrestler Ochirdolgoryn Enkhtaivan took up the sport at a young age. When Ochirdolgoryn was 20 he represented his country at the 1972 München Olympics in the Greco-Roman light-flyweight, but was eliminated in the first round of the tournament. His first success came at the 1973 World Championships in Tehran where he won the bronze medal in the light-flyweight. The following year Ochirdolgoryn won bronze in the same category at the 1974 Asian Games, which were also held in Tehran. In 1979 he won another bronze medal, this time at the Summer Universiade in Sofia.

Ochirdolgoryn was bestowed with multiple honours during his lifetime including the Honorary Medal of Labor (1973), the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Merit (2000), and the Honoured Athlete of Mongolia (2006).
