Hugh Allen owned the two-person keelboat Cloud in which he crewed for helmsman Alf Delany in the Swallow class at the 1948 London Olympics. Unfortunately, the pair finished 13th out of 14 starters with a best finish of fifth in race five when they finished in front of the eventual bronze medallists USA. Allen also owned the 14-foot dinghy Dusk in which he enjoyed success with either himself or Olympic teammate Delany at the helm.
