Biography

Władysław Ponursk was the only Polish track & field athlete at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. However, he represented Austria because Poland did not have an official team at the time. He started in the heats of the 200 and 400 metres but failed to qualify for the next round. Ponurski was the first official Polish record holder at 200, 400 meters, and in the 4x400 relay.

Ponurski later became a lawyer and moved with his family to Kraków. He was also secretary of the local track & field association.

Personal Bests: 200 – unknown; 400 – 53.0 (1914).
