Alex Munroe had a brief, but successful career as an athlete during the mid-1920s, with his most notable accomplishment being his appearance at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. There, representing Canada, he competed in the high and triple jumps, being disqualified in the former and eliminated in the qualifying round of the latter. Beginning in 1926, he captured three consecutive Canadian titles in the high jump, and also won the triple jump championship in 1928. He was the top-ranked Canadian in the high jump in 1926 and 1928, and also in the triple jump in 1928. He retired from active competition shortly thereafter.
