Biography
Carlos Álvarez had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1975 Pan American Games 4×400 metres Relay (with Eddy Gutiérrez, Alberto Juantorena, and Dámaso Alfonso), 3rd in the 1979 Pan American Games 4×400 metres Relay (with Alberto Juantorena and the non-Olympians Pedro Tanis and Frank Montiéh).
Personal Best: 400 – 46.3 (1976).
