Biography

Charles Winckler competed in athletics at the 1900 Paris Olympics, in the shot put and discus throw, and was also a member of the combined Danish/Swedish tug-of-war team that won the gold medal in 1900. Winckler was mainly known as a weight thrower in athletics. He was Danish shot put champion from 1901-03 and discus throw champion in 1902. He was Danish record holder in the discus from 1897-1907, and in the shot put from 1896-1903. Winckler also was entered at the 1896 Olympics, in freestyle swimming events, but did not appear in Athina. He was a member of the Handelsstandens Athletklub.
