Dagmar Neubauer, a 400 runner, earned a bronze medal with the 4x400 relay at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and reached the semifinals of the 400. She also won gold medals at the 1982 European Championships and 1983 and 1987 World Championships with the 4x400 relay. At the European Indoors she won two individual silver medals in 1982 and 1985, adding a bronze in 1988. In 1981 and 1985 Neubauer won the World Cup with the relay, also winning at the 1981 European Cup, where she was runner-up in 1983 and third in 1985. Domestically she won four outdoor and two indoor East German titles.

Many documents on doping in the former GDR became public after reunification, and Neubauer was listed among the doped athletes. Her daughter Anne Neubauer later became a nationally successful long and triple jumper.

Personal Best: 400 – 49.58 (1984).
