Biography

Sprinter Marc Blume, twin brother of Holger Blume, was part of the German 4x100 metres squad at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics that did not finish their semi-final. At Sydney in 2000, he started only in the individual 100 and was eliminated in the first round. Marc won nine relay national titles along with his twin as members of the TV Wattenscheid club. He also won the individual 100 national titles in 1996-98, 2000, and 2002, and the 200 titles in 1996-97, 2000, and 2002.

In 1996, Marc was European Indoor Champion over 60 metres, and in 2002 won the bronze medal in the 4x100 relay at the European Championships in München. His third place, however, did not materialise until 2006 when the then “victorious” British team was subsequently denied the title as a result of Dwain Chambers doping confession.

Personal Best: 100 – 10.13 (1996).
