Biography

Alfondo Di Guida was a former Italian sprinter coached by Giuseppe Lanaro. Domestically he won three Italian 400 metre titles (1974, 1976-77), with a personal best of 46.2, run in Torino on 8 July 1976. A few days later, at the Montréal Olympic Games Di Guida was eliminated in the semi-finals. In August 1981 in Zagreb he helped set a national record in the 4 x 400 relay with 3:01.42. In the 4x4 relay Di Guida won bronze medals at the 1975 and 1979 Mediterranean Games and the 1979 Mexico City Universiade. From 1973-82 he earned 33 international caps.

Personal Best: 400 – 46.39 (1981), 46.2 (1976) (hand).
