Biography

Pietro Pastorino was an Italian athlete who specialised in the 100 and 200 metre sprints in the 1920s. Remarkably, his only appearance on the Italian team was at the 1924 Paris Olympics where, despite elimination in the heats, he set a 200 personal best of 22.1. His 100 metre best of 10.8 was achieved twice, at Den Haag in 1925 and Genova the following year.

Pastorino was one of the best Italian 200 metre runners in the mid-1920s, despite winning just one national title, at Napoli in 1926 when he beat Franco Reyser and Ruggero Maregatti. The municipality of Sarzana named the local athletics stadium in his honour.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.8e (1925); 200 – 22.1e (1924).
