Biography

Center Albert Valtin played most of his professional career from 1957-74 with one club – Stroitel Kyiv – except for a short spell with Avtomobilist Voroshilovgrad in 1973. With Stroitel, Valtin won the Soviet title in 1967, silvers at the Soviet championships in 1963, 1965 and 1966, and bronzes in 1962, 1964, 1970 and 1974. He was on the Soviet national team from 1959-61 and won an Olympic silver in 1960, European title in 1961 and golds at the 1959 and 1961 Universiade. After finishing his sporting career, Valtin worked as a basketball coach and assistant professor at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in Kyiv.
