Biography
Alois Anderle was an Austrian swimmer and water polo player who participated in the 1900 Paris Olympics. He did not finish the final over 4,000 metres freestyle, and placed 13th in the underwater swimming event. The following year he swam from Vienna to Bratislava (then called Preßburg),without any support, in seven hours
Anderle placed second at the national championships in 1900 in the jumping headlong event. He emigrated to New York in 1909 and swam through Boston Harbour as the first person to succeed in reaching Boston Light from Charlestown. His time was 5 hours, 40 minutes.
