Biography

Eeva Ruoppa made her international début at the 1960 Olympic Winter Games, where she was 11th in the 10 km and won a bronze as a member of the Finnish relay team. At the 1962 World Championships Ruoppa was eighth at 5 km, ninth at 10 km and won another bronze in the relay. The 1964 Winter Olympics were not successful for Ruoppa, as she placed only eighth in the 5 km, ninth in the 10 km, and was not selected to the relay team. Ruoppa made her last international appearance at the 1966 World Championships, where she did not medal, finishing ninth at 5 km, 11th over 10 km, and fifth in the relay. Domestically Ruoppa never won a Finnish title, but won five silvers (1961 and 1963 at 10 km; 1963-64 and 1966 at 5 km) and three bronzes (1962 and 1966 at 10 km; 1962 at 5 km). She also won the Puijo 10K three times (1962-63, 1965) and won the 1963 Ounasvaara 10 km. At Lahti she placed second twice in the 10 km, in 1962 and 1966. By profession Ruoppa was a farmer.
