Biography

Cornel Crăciun was a pioneer of Romanian cross-country skiing and ski jumping, winning 24 national championship titles in both disciplines during his career. He was named to two Olympic teams, first in Sankt Moritz 1948 where he competed in the demonstration miltary ski patrol event, and four years later in Oslo where he competed in the 18 kilometres and nordic combined events. Crăciun was a member of clubs in Predeal, București, and Brașov during his career in the 1950s and 1940s. He later was awarded the title master of sports and became a ski jumping coach.
