Biography

In the first half of the 1960s Arild Holm was the dominate force in Alpine skiing in Norway. From 1961 to 1965 Holm won 15 national titles along with the King’s Cup (“Kongepokal”) in 1962 and 1964. At the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics he competed in the downhill, slalom, and the giant slalom, with his best result coming in the latter, finishing in 21st. In 1972 Holm began his long career working for the Norwegian Ski Association, first as a national coach, before becoming responsible for education and courses. He retired in 2012 and was awarded with an honorary plaque by the organisation.
