Austrian cross-country skier and biathlete Rudi Horn was a member of the 4x10 km cross-country relay team at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. They placed eighth, and Horn came 42nd over 15 km individually. He then moved to biathlon and participated in two more editions of the Olympics in 1980 at Lake Placid and 1984 at Sarajevo. With the Austrian relays he placed sixth and eighth, respectively. Individually, his best result was finishing 26th over 20 km in 1980.

Domestically, Horn won national championships in the 10 km biathlon sprint in 1980 and 1982, and the 20 km title in 1984. In 1979, he won his only world cup race, in the 10 km sprint.
