Jean Keyrouz spent a lifetime in alpine skiing, beginning as a competitor from a young age and winning multiple national titles. He made his Olympic début for Lebanon at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Games, where he was 43rd in the downhill, 81st in the giant slalom, and disqualified in the slalom. Four years later he was entered into the slalom at the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics, but did not start. He competed in all three events at the 1964 Innsbruck Games, however, placing 52nd in the slalom, 74th in the downhill, and 76th in the giant slalom. Following the end of his competitive career, Keyrouz took up numerous administrative roles and helped found the Lebanese Skiing Federation. In honor of his contributions to skiing in Lebanon, he was selected as the nation’s Closing Ceremony flagbearer at the 2006 Torino Olympics.
