Ladislav Lubina played for 23 seasons in the Czechoslovakian, and other European, leagues, mostly known for his time with Tesla Pardubice and HC ČSOB Pojišťovna Pardubice. In Czechoslovakia he also played for HC Dukla Jihlava, HC Chrudim, and HC Oceláři Třinec. He played in 1991-92 in Finland with Hockey-Reipas Lahti. From 1992-95 he bounced back and forth between Germany and Switzerland, playing for HC Martigny and EV Zug in Switzerland, and for ESV Kaufbeuren and ES Weißwasser in Germany. His long club career saw him play in 953 regular season games, scoring 671 points. Lubina never played professionally in North America but was drafted in the 11th round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota North Stars.
Lubina first played internationally for Czechoslovakia at the 1985 European and World Junior Championships. He also competed at the World Juniors in 1986 and 1987, winning World Junior bronze medals in 1985 and 1987. He made one Olympic appearance, winning a bronze medal in 1992, and also competed at the 1987 Canada Cup. Lubina skated at the 1990-92 World Championships, winning bronze medals in 1990 and 1992. He later became a coach with HC Chrudim. In May 2009, Lubina was involved in a tragic car accident, and was later sentenced to two years probation for leaving the scene and not providing first aid.
