Canadian tennis player Vanessa Webb competed as a professional from 1992 to 2003. Webb achieved a career-best singles ranking of #107 in the world in August 2000 and a doubles ranking of #95 in the world in July 2000. While she never won a WTA title, she did win 25 doubles and 10 singles titles on the ITF Circuit during her career. Her performances earned her the accolades of being named the ACC Athlete of the Year in 1998, followed by the Honda Sports Award for tennis a year later. Webb attended Duke University where she was twice named ITA Player of the Year. She is a member of the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame.
In 2000 Webb paired with Sonya Jeyaseelan for the doubles at the Sydney Olympics, but lost to the eventual gold medallists Serena and Venus Williams in straight sets. Webb reached the second round in the doubles at the French Open four consecutive times from 2000 to 2003, as well as reaching the second round at Wimbledon in 2003. Following her retirement, Webb worked in Mumbai for a Boston-based private equity firm and served as the player class director for the WTA Board of Directors.
