Biography

Petr Rosol was a right wing who played from 1980-2004 with 10 clubs in various European leagues. The list is long but he played in Czechoslovakia with Slovan Ústí nad Labem (1980-81), CHZ Litvínov (1981-83, 1985-91, 1992-93, 1999-2001), and HC Dukla Jihlava (1983-85). In other leagues, he played with the following teams: SHC Fassa (Italy – 1990-92), HC Sierre (Switzerland – 1991-92), HC Lugano (Switzerland – 1992-93), HC Martigny (1993-99), EHC Visp (Switzerland – 2001-02), ESC Halle 04 (Germany – 2002-03), and Rostocker EC (Germany – 2003-04). His career is not fully documented but he played in 800 league games, with close to 500 goals and over 1,200 points scored. Rosol was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the 4th round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, but never played professionally in North America.

Internationally Rosol first played for Czechoslovakia at the 1981 and 1982 European Junior Championships, and then played in the World Juniors in 1982-83, winning silver medals both years. He competed at the Canada Cup in 1984 and 1987, and at the Winter Olympics in 1988 and 1992, winning a bronze medal in 1992. He played at seven World Championships – 1984-87, 1991-93, representing the Czech Republic in 1993, and winning a gold medal in 1985, and bronze medals in 1990 and 1992-93.
