Description

Laos formed a National Olympic Committee (NOC) in 1975 and saw it provisionally recognized at a meeting of the IOC Executive Board in Nagoya in October 1979. It was fully recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 12 February 1980 at the IOC session in Lake Placid. Laos’s first Olympic appearance was in 1980 at Moscow. The country competed again in 1988 through 2012. It has not competed at the Olympic Winter Games. Laotian competitors have generally been eliminated in the first round of competition, and have not yet been close to winning a medal.
