Freestyle Skiing at the 2022 Winter Olympics

Dates 3 – 19 February 2022
Medal Events 13

After having remained unchanged since 2014, the ski jumping program in Beijing added three events: big air for both men and women and a mixed team aerials event. Except for big air, the events took place at the Genting Snow Park, which also hosted most of the snowboarding tournament, that had been built to augment a pre-existing ski resort. Big air events took place at Big Air Shougang, which had been constructed over an old steel mill.

Canada had been the dominant nation in this sport since the 2010 Vancouver Games, but they were unable to earn a single gold medal in Beijing. China was dominant as the host nation, thanks in large part to American-born Chinese skier Eileen Gu, who won three medals – gold in big air and halfpipe and silver in slopestyle – and became the first competitor to do so in this sport at a single edition of the Games. China had four gold and two silver medals for six overall but, in terms of total medals, the United States was at the top of the table with eight: two gold, four silver, and two bronze. The only other nations to win more than one gold medal were Switzerland and Sweden.
