Description
Hockey 5s is a smaller, indoor version of hockey (field), which is played by five-person teams on a much smaller field. The sport has never been on the Olympic Programme, but a boys’ and girls’ tournament has been contested at the 2014 and 2018 Youth Olympic Games.
Despite never having appeared on the Olympic Programme, hockey 5s is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH), which was formed on 7 January 1924, in Paris, with seven founding members. As of 2024, the FIH had 139 member national federations.
