Biography

Alfons, brother of August Lütke Westhues, won the gold medal with the West German show jumping team on Ala at the 1956 Stockholm Equestrian Olympics and finished 11th in the individual event. Both brothers were born under the name Hohenbrink but took the name of their mother in 1947. Since 1953 Alfons owned his own riding stable, and since 1958 he was an operating manager within the Olympic Committee. He later acted as an international riding judge.
