Biography

German judoka Alexandra Schreiber earned the fifth place in the middleweight class at the 1992 Barcelona Games when female judo was first contested at the Olympics. Four years earlier at Seoul, she also came fifth in the corresponding demonstration event.

In 1983-84, 1987, and 1992 Schreiber won the German national title. However, she had her greatest win at the 1987 World Championships, winning the title, having been third in 1986. She was also the European champion in 1988 and 1990, and runner-up in 1981, 1986, and 1989. She also collected European bronze medals in 1983 and 1992.
