Biography

Christiane Lanzke was an East German diver who took part in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics with the mixed German team. She finished 5th on platform and 10th on springboard . In 1966 she retired due to a shoulder injury. After her sports career she became one of the best known actors in the former GDR. After reunification she worked in the Potsdam-based cabaret Obelisk but struggled in the combined Germany, and later drowned herself in the Baltic Sea near Rostock in 2005.
