Biography

German breaststroke swimmer Jana Dörries won the silver medal with the 4x100 IM relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She also started in the 100 metres and the 200 metres individual events and finished fifth and 18th respectively. At the 1991 World Championships she won the 100 metres silver medal and 200 bronze, and also the bronze medal with the 4x100 IM relay. In 1995, she won the gold medal with the relay team at the Europeans.

Dörries won national titles over 100 and 200 metres in 1990 and 1994, and over 100 in 1992. In 1993, she was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. She retired in 1997.
