Biography

Martin Herrmann was a German swimmer mainly active in the butterfly style. He participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympics representing West Germany and in the 1992 Barcelona Games representing re-unified Germany. At Seoul he failed to reach the semi-finals over 100 and 200 metres. At Barcelona he reached the B-finals in both events and finished 14th and 11th respectively. At European Championships, he won a silver medal in the 100 butterfly and a bronze medal with the 4x200 freestyle relay in 1989. In 1993, he won another bronze with the 4x100 freestyle relay.

Herrmann won 100 metres butterfly national titles in 1989 and 1992, and 200 butterfly in 1989 and 1993. He studied business administration, and became a chartered accountant.
