Biography

Power forward Henning Harnisch, also called Flying Henning, was on the German basketball squad that finished seventh at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics after winning the classification match versus Puerto Rico, 96-86. In total, he earned 169 international caps and was European Champion in 1993.

Domestically, Harnisch played with MTV 1846 Gießen (until 1988), TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen (1988-96), and ALBA Berlin (1996-98). He earned nine consecutive German Championships with Leverkusen and Berlin from 1990-98.

Harnisch later wrote columns for the German newspaper “taz” and moderated his own radio programs. He also became a sports director at various basketball clubs.
