Biography

Figure skater Tina Riegel partnered with Andreas Nischwitz in 1979 and finished tenth at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics in the pairs event. Both then won silver at the 1981 Europeans and bronze at the Worlds the same year as their best international results ever. Riegel also placed 18th in the women’s event.

After her active career Riegel tried to start a TV career, but was less successful than she hoped to be. She had brief appearances as the assistant of famous entertainer Rudi Carrell with the show Die verflixte 7, but her contract was not renewed. Riegel later worked as a cosmetician and pedicurist, and eventually as a children’s caretaker.
