Biography

West German figure skater Tilo Gutzeit from Düsseldorf took part in five World and five European Championships between 1955 and 1960. His best finish in the Worlds was fifth in 1960 whilst his best European finish was also fifth in both 1956 and 1960. At the Winter Olympics he was tenth in 1956 and ninth in 1960. Gutzeit won his only West German title in 1955, although the results were miscalculated at first, and Manfred Schnelldorfer was given the gold medal. However, judge Werner Rittberger noticed the error and corrected the results months later. Gutzeit was a runner-up in the West German Championships in 1956 and 1958-60.
