Biography

Jani Soininen was one of the top ski jumpers of the World at the end of 1990s. The high point of his career was at the 1998 Winter Olympics, where he won gold on the normal hill and silver on the large hill. He also won the world titles in the team event at the 1995 and 1997 World Championships and team silver at the 2001 World Championships. During his career, which lasted from 1992-01, Soininen won four World Cup events with an additional 14 podium finishes and his best overall standing in World Cup was seventh, which he achieved three times – in the 1994-95, 1997-98 and 1999-00 seasons. Domestically Soininen won three Finnish titles – large hill in 1997 and normal hill in 1998 and 2000. After finishing his sporting career, Soininen worked as CEO of Jyväs-Marine Oy, a snowmobile, motorcycle, quad and motorboat retailer located in Jyväskylä.
