The entire podium from PyeongChang 2018 was back, led by American Jamie Anderson, the two-time defending gold medalist, along with Canada’s Laurie Blouin and Finland’s Enni Rukajärvi. However, the favorite was likely Kiwi Zoi Sadowski-Synott who had won the 2019 and 2021 World Championships. All qualified for the final, along with recent World Cup winners Kokomo Murase of Japan and Australian Tess Coady.
Sadowski-Synnott took the lead on the first run of the final, scoring 84.51 although on a conservative 720. Round two saw American Julia Marino move into the lead, scoring 87.68. On the final run Sadowski-Synnott went for it with a 1080 double cork and landed it cleanly to score 92.88 and secure the gold medal.
Behind her Marino held on for silver, while Coady came up with a big final run of 84.15 to take bronze. Anderson never made a clean run and finished ninth, while Blouin missed the podium in fourth and Rukajärvi placed seventh.
