This division now had a minimum weight of 92 kg, an increase of a kilogram since Tokyo. With six of the eight seeded boxers losing in round two, the path was open for the 2020 Olympic champion and current World Champion Bakhodir Dzhalolov (UZB) to retain his title. This he did quite comfortably, winning all four of his bouts by a unanimous decision.

The top two seeds who were expected to meet in the final were both defeated in round two, American Joshua Edwards by Italian Diego Lenzi on a 3-1 split decision, with one judge calling it a draw, and Britain’s Delicious Orie losing a split 3-2 decision against Azerbaijan’s Davit Chaloyan. Neither Lenzi nor Chaloyan advanced beyond the quarter-finals.

In the first semi-final, Dzhalolov comfortably defeated Germany’s Nelvie Tiafack, the reigning European champion. Dzhalolov’s victory meant that Uzbekistan had won five of the seven men’s divisions. In the other semi-final, matching two unseeded boxers, Ayoub Ghadfa (ESP), runner-up in the 2022 European Championships, defeated host nation boxer Djamili-Dini Aboudou (FRA) unanimously.
