Franz Sagmeister was a bobsleigher who finished sixth with pilot René Spies in the two-man bob at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. In 2003, they both won a bronze medal at the World Championships. In 2001 and 2005, they also won bronze and silver at the Europeans and won the German national title on both occasions. At Salt Lake City, Sagmeister was in the four-man bob team piloted by Christoph Langen, but the crew did not start the third run.
