Biography

Shannon Bahrke resisted skiing at first but once she tried it in the seventh grade she settled on moguls. She soon became one of the most consistent freestylers on the US Team, with her first World Cup podium placement, a silver, in 1999 in Japan, and thru 2007, she never failed to make the podium during a World Cup season. At the World Championships she won a bronze in 2003, and a silver in 2007, and in 2003, she was also the overall World Cup moguls champion for the season. Thru 2007, she had won seven World Cup events, with 22 podium finishes. Bahrke accomplished all this despite numerous injuries, including a Staph infection in 1999, a fractured jaw in 2004, and a torn ACL in 2005 that caused her to miss the final two months of the season.
