Biography

Nikolay Marincheshki belonged to the so-called “Golden Generation” of sabre fencers in Bulgaria during the 1980s. Marincheshki was part of the sabre team that finished in eighth place at the 1980 Moskva Olympics and at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Also at the Seoul Games he competed in the individual event where he finished in 31st place. In between his two Olympic appearances Marincheshki won two silver medals at the World Fencing Championships (1985, 1987), and a bronze medal in 1986. He returned to the Olympics for the 1996 Atlanta Games in the capacity of a referee for multiple foil and sabre bouts.
