Biography

Ed Ballinger attended New York University, graduating in 1976. In 1971 he was NCAA individual foil team foil, and three-weapon team champion. Ballinger was US Champion in foil in 1973 and 1975, winning team foil titles in 1971 and 1973. He placed third three times at the Martini & Rossi International. At the 1975 Pan American Games Ballinger won a gold medal in team épée and a silver medal in team foil. He later coached fencing, at Baruch College from 1980-84, and later at the Boston Fencing Club. Ballinger married Sally Pechinsky, who competed in fencing at the 1968 Olympics.
