Biography

Slovak footballer Július Holeš played professionally from 1958 to 1970 and was regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Czechoslovakia at the time. Holeš joined Dukla Pardubice in 1958 before signing for Dynamo Žilina the following year. From 1963 to 1966 he played more than 60 matches for Tatran Prešov, followed by two seasons at Locomotive Košice. He returned to Tatran in 1969 where he finished his domestic career. Holeš played for Czechoslovakia at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics in their 2–2 draw against Bulgaria, replacing their regular keeper Antonín Kramerius.
