Biography

In trap shooting Spain’s Jaime Bladas was a two-time national champion and won the Copa Catalunya on six consecutive occasions. In 1964 Bladas finished 25th in the trap event at the Tokyo Olympics. Four years later he had a top-ten finish at the Olympics when he came ninth out of the 55 participants at the Mexico City Games. He had further success at international competitions with silver at the Mediterranean Games (1971), gold in the team trap at the European Championships (1972), and bronze in the team event at the World Championships (1975). Bladas then worked as a coach of the Spanish team from 1983 to 1992, and served as the Vice-President of the Spanish Shooting Federation. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics he had the honour of designing the course at the Mollet del Vallès shooting range. His son Josep also competed at the Olympics in trap shooting.
