Biography

Østen Østensen made his first Olympic appearance in 1912, winning a silver medal in free rifle, three positions at the Stockholm Games. Eight years later he was selected for the Norwegian rifle team for the Antwerp Games. He competed both in military rifle, free rifle and small-bore rifle, winning two silver and two bronze medals. Born in Drammen, Østensen moved to Oslo in his teens and became a member of Christiania Skytterlag. In 1924 he won the traditional Skymoens Prize, which can be won just once by any shooter.
